21st January 2020 - Another day of Estate Agents

Thought for the day:"6 months since I joined the gym and no improvement. May have to go there in person tomorrow to complain."

So up at 8am waiting for a call from BT to say that they are heading to the flat to put the phones in...
Or a text saying that the phone should be completed by 11pm
Not sure which to believe - so thought it best to be up anyway ...
And the result is that they did not need me at all - the phone is in place and working...

Must be the Number of the Beast

So, another day of fundraising and estate agents...
TV License Updated - and not a person on the telephone - all automated - Quite simply done .
Minutes for RAM and Athelstan completed and circulated.

call form "We buy any house" dot com - still number crunching .

there must be an easier way...

Ho Hum

Cheers !

18th January 2020 - Athelstan - Llanelli

Thought for the day :"Don’t you hate it when people act all intellectual and talk about Mozart but you know they have never even seen one of his paintings".

A lovely installation meeting for the Court of St Elli - Masonic Order of Athelstan at Llanelli ..
As usual we managed to get the ceremony done well and the festive board within the Hour Glass timing..  though we may have had a bottle or two of port after the festive board had finished..

But that is how we do it in Llanelli - and long may it last ...

Off looking at a farm tomorrow  so though I would share this alternative idea for life..

Not my style - just saying ...
I will never be rich .. ho hum !!

In other news - A thought about Butts

A good day with a call from Vic - but no problems - things are looking up

(had to have a nap when I came home - must be getting old - nothing to do with a few bottles of port - honest ...)

However - life has to be better than taking these sort of risks ...   just saying

Cheers !

17th January 2020 - Progress in Burry Port

Thought for the day :"I want to be a caterpillar – eat a lot sleep a little wake up beautiful"

A successful day - I think.  Seem to have a content Vic in his new flat though we have to work out the central heating as it seems to be off in the day and he is getting cold. Managed to get the labels finished in the flat. Got the keys re-cut - had the wrong base for the outside door - so we can put the main ones back in the key safe outside.
Managed to get the forms for the Housing Benefit and the Council Tax sorted in the "Hwb" in town.
Got a suction loo roll holder. and a suction soap dish.

Susie had to go down again to try to sort the central heating which came on as she was down there.

all in all a good day, and we have decided to celebrate with last year's Christmas Port ...  Yum...

In other news - Dyfed Powys Police have started taking in Direct Entry Inspectors as well as Superintendents. I think I would have been cheesed off with these innovations. Just Saying.

And in other other news - a parking picture...

just love this ...

and so..
Cheers !

16th January 2020 - A big Day - the Move In

Thought for the day :"Romans only met once a week – that was enough forum"

A grey day - but we managed to get all the furniture moved in yesterday so just the bedding and overnight stuff to go in today. Need to find some TV cables - forgot about them entirely, and maybe look to see if I can find some football channels for Vic to watch - he enjoys his football - especially Arsenal!

In other news, a friend has invited me to sing at his wedding in May 2021 - best get my set together ... Found a few ideas for him for his hand-fasting including these which I store here for posterity.

Viking Weddings - Link here

Found this little gem that I have included in my "Green Things" gallery...   works for me...

A bit of paperwork for the morning  - complete the housing benefit forms and Community Charge filling in and stuff...

Ho Hum ...

on other matters...
Hello children. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin" were the opening words of 'Listen with mother' which began on this day in 1950.

Cheers !

15th January 2020 - Trailers and Hammers

Thought for the day :"I hope that whoever stole my anti-depressants is happy now"

As we arrived hoe last night, I tried to get some things out of the trailer and found that the back roller shutter was badly jammed. It seemed that the sack truck had slipped and the handles were pressing against the shutters and preventing the back opening.  I tried to push the shuttering to free it off - and failed miserably, in fact I managed to punch the shuttering out of its groove - making things considerably worse !
Inventiveness then took place - with the careful use of a mobile phone to delay photograph with flash to see what was happening inside - and that gave us an idea of what was going on.. A quick drive around the block and speeding (sort of) down Harries Avenue and putting the brakes on sharply to try to ease the pressure on the doors helped a little.
Managing to prize the shutter up about a foot I was able to get a couple of items out and free the truck but sadly the back was well and truly stuck - would not go up or down!
It had been a long day so I drove carefully around to the Lock up and found that the local Zumba classes were ready to finish so both sides of the road were tied up with parked cars. I used my zapper on the electronic shuttergate and one lass kindly moved straight away freeing the entrance. Another moved a bit away. I did speak to her and suggest that she may wish to consider moving as I was reversing into the garage and she may be at risk - she moved quickly enough. As many watched - I must admit to a touch of pride that I reversed straight back into the very tight entrance in one !

So, this morning, armed with a hammer I went to the Lock up and squeezed into the trailer and found that percussive persuasion (hitting with a hammer) freed the shutter very quickly and put the door back into its runners - much easier than expected.  And so we were ready for the off...

And a couple of hours later we have everything into the flat and ready to go.
One more night with us and then Vic can enjoy some privacy. He seems to like the flat which is  a great bonus, happily pottering around and putting his bathroom stuff away and sorting the kitchen cupboards.
Me? I am a bit tired!! I used to load and unload that trailer every week - clearly out of practice!!!

inother news - it is best to consider the uses of your cutlery !!

seems legit !!

Have a viewing for the Cwm ty Coed for Sunday Morning - 10am

looking forward to it ...

Cheers !
