6th April 2021 - Playing Catchup - estate repairs..

Mended the Flag Pole which had snapped int he wind

Put the flapping bird and decided to repair the broken wing.. 

Isn't it lovely to have the right tools !

And job done..

5th April 2021 - Project 41 it is ....

Thought for the day : "Far too many people are judgemental these days. I can tell just by looking at them .."

Trip to Llanelli as it was turning colder here and snow was threatening - though all we got in the end was some hail. 

Susie took a walk with the dog and found the loop path behind the Community Centre that comes back into Felin Brithdir 

I think this is her route - she can correct me tomorrow 

Meanwhile - back on Project 41 .... 

Cleared the bedroom and dismantled the wardrobes and bed and transferred to the ground floor.

Also cleared the old Sewing room except for the bed and chest of drawers to be sold / removed... 

Only spent 3 hour but it was enough for one day ..

Got Susie some hinges for her Gate.. and that meant visiting Charlie's always a mistake...

May have found Idris a friend...

Project 41:

Bedroom 1 - may need a little TLC on the wallpaper ...

And the main bedroom is clear .

And what did I find behind the Wardrobe - forgot entirely that I persuaded the local video store to let me have these for an NSPCC charity Function...   Now what do I do with them ??

Maybe a day at Ffynnon Wen tomorrow than back for the next stage ...

4th April 2021 - Another day in the Garden

Thought for the day : "Don't you hate it when someone answers their own question? I do."

Another sunny day, but the temperature certainly drops quickly once the sun goes over the hill.

Took the long walk around the village and met up with Dafydd who works with the Urdd in Llangrannog, but has a wonderful 40 year old Hillman minx (I think!)..

A little further and a quick wit in the sunshine with Rhys and Roisin who have successfully let out their cabins for the Easter so am very pleased for them, and Roisin's parents up fro Cardiff. We will learn a fair bit from them in due time about the cabins and their toilet cesspit system which looks very interesting...

Back at the estate, we have found on of the escape plans that 'Thena has found to get her down to the lower quarter.  She put a wire fence up and I banged a couple of stakes in to hang a gate in due course.
Hopefully that will keep her restricted to the grounds - though she has spent more time with us sitting on the lawn while we work.

Failed completely to finish the workshed - but it was hot - and I can do that when it is colder - they are threatening snow tomorrow - though I think that they have revised that plan now....

Still contemplating a trip to Llanelli tomorrow - need to get on and stop prevaricating.

So today's photos are of the fencing for the gate and I managed to get onto the gokart again and top the lawn again and it is looking good...

3rd April 2021 - Bubbles and Firepits...

Thought for the day :"Do vegetarian cannibals only eat Swedes?"

Susie off to Carmarthen this morning and Vic apparently is eating better. Still thinking that he will be safer in a Residential Home now so hunting for something local...  Probably a few weeks in hospital anyway...

I managed to get the 5 in 1 timberthingie working and did some strimming on the edges of the lawn...

Then I hit the Workshop - which needed sorting and rationalising...

Visit from Charlie and Spot this evening a a bottle of proseco or two .....

Start - this end was cleared for the brooding pen previously

But the rest was stacked to the ceiling

And from the Double Doors..

Much of this is canvas and spare tents..

End of day 1 - the work benches in place

Susie cleared the pear tree beds ready for planting Gladioli and replaced the wooden edging...

and Susie tried out her fishing rod again as she saw fish jumping - but nothing caught yet...

 

So.. if in doubt - Blow Bubbles!

As the Sun went over the hill - the temperature dropped severely - it had been a day of shirt off and I was on my Cardigan by the end of the evening and it warranted lighting our first firepit of the year....

2nd April 2021 - Flags and Peacocks....

Thought for the day: "I’ve been studying genetics recently and learned that if your parents don’t have children then neither will you."

Sunny Good Friday - Madigans supporting us - Chris dug a fruit bed before we were up - and cleared a huge area of brushwood... and so the rest of the day was painting the rose bed fencing ... 
setting up the Solar Peacock that Nancy and family gave us ..  Painted benches, the Lych gate , fences, put the new Glyndwr Flag onto the pole, and then topped the lawn on the go-kart - a good day ...

So met Rob and Em and their two delightful children (forgot the names already - bad am I !) 
Visiting it he village but they were interested in the peacocks and I met them on the lane - so we invited them to see around the grounds - I love showing off - just saying.

They are in Ty Gwyn - (for reference) and look forward to meeting Em's father in due course as he is very interested int he history of the village.  

But it is getting late and so I will say
