17th July 2025 - So Jan is the Hex!!

So, we now know what affects our travel plans ..

Yesterday I was planning to pick Jan up form Cardiff airport at about 4.45pm, but had a call to say that his plane had been cancelled . He had got to the airport with a 70 euro fare but they just cancelled - no explanation and no replacement - so he went home..

And I finished my day's work with Chris ...

So we start again today - and his plans work out fine and he gets to Düsseldorf airport okay and across to Schiphol airport and across to Cardiff - so I merrily go down to collect him...

As I approach the airport I am aware of a slight judder in the engine but try to ignore it.

With Jan in the car ( after an abortive attempt to find a free pick up area which does not I think exist)  he is in the car and we are traveling back to Ffynnon Wen - however I do not have the heart to say that I am slightly concerned that we are not running very well and may be going into Limp mode .

The anti skid lights come on and then an engine warning - and I start thinking that it may be something to do with the trip to the Volvo garage on Tuesday to update the software..

But then we get the full christmas tree of lights and the red triangle of death and I pull into a layby by the Burger King in Bridgend and tell Jan that his jinx has done it again .. Maybe a bit harsh but it felt true..

In fairness the Federation Rescue services were very good an we were recovered to Gorseinon and then home and got there - wait for it - at a Quarter to Eleven !!    

So an eventful trip - but we are here now ..

now have to see if Tom and Jay can fix me !
