31st July 2025 - And Trees Come Down - Eventually

A day for planning and packing 
decided to use all the wooden boxes for storage to keep the IT  atmosphere (in time / in Character)

Difficult to try and remember everything that you need to take ..

Meanwhile Olly from Baum Tree Surgeons started work on the Ash Trees  by the house 

A few problems of technology meant that they did not finish the job today - but will not be long tomorrow  

Getting close to travel now ..

Need to get  TEN out for the August Bank Holiday

30th July 2025 - A Work day - mainly chopping wood

Thought for the day :"I entered a competition to see who’s gained the most weight and lost the most hair. Obviously it wasn’t called that, the invitation said ‘school reunion’ "

Day with Chris - Jan had an exeat after a great party last night for Susie's Birthday so just the two of us until we sorted the Tavern and moved the trailers ready for tree surgeons tomorrow .

Decided to hit the wood dump, so sharpened a couple of the chin saw chains  ( one wrongly done - will have to and try to repair some bad work) but the other one worked well .

29th July 2025 - Susie has a birthday party

28th July 2025 - Volvo test run

Pickle Bynt  - came up in my memories - this was the name that we chose for Cat Durrant for working behind the bar in the Crimson Moon.

Checking another tent today - the Saxon tent that I will be taking to Germany with me,

But had to pick Susie up in Narberth so chanced the Volvo and made the trip without incident .

And Susie is about to fillet the fish she caught - Bass and Mackeral

27th July 2025 - Volvo off the road - Susie goes Fishing

Thought for the day :"I’ve been saying 'mucho' to my Spanish friends recently. It means a lot to them."

Took the opportunity to check out the Burgandian and make sure that everything was in place - which surprisingly it was...

But early start to take Susie to Saundersfoot for her fishing trip - the Volvo being off the road it was a bumpy trip in the Landrover. Susie in the back got a bit damp from a dribbling Toby 

Afterwards - Jan and I went to Tenby for a full Welsh breakfast, and then did a road trip along the coast - Wiseman's Bridge, Amroth, Laugharne and Carmarthen . 

Toby's first trip on the sands - seemed to enjoy but not keen on the waves !!

26th July 2025 - Off the Road Again ...

A little Wet - just damp really 

So, it was Saturday and we decided that it would be a good idea to do a road trip up to Aberystwyth to get to the Tree Nursery to see if we can replace some of the trees that we lost in Storm Darragh .

And so we head off. But I have an alternative reason for wanting to go - the car has not driven a distance since it was fixed so I did not want Susie to be driving on her own down to Saundersfoot on her own and have a problem with the car.   

And as we get to Screwfix to buy some guerrilla duct tape the car goes once more into Limp mode with lights flashing on the dashboard and no transmission.

And so we spend a few hours waiting for the recovery - a lovely guy from St Dogmaels called Nick who has a partner and two daughters - or three with his partner - all of whom are studying music.   

We have invited him to come up to the Crimson Moon Tavern - friend with Olly the Tresaith Taxi Guy ..

But we do not get to look at some more trees ..

Susie has her Sea Fishing trip tomorrow so fingers crossed we will all go down in the Landie tomorrow and drop her off - explore Pembrokeshire and come home with Stuart picking her up to stay at Narberth and then pick her up on MOnday monring and get the shopping done 

Talking with Tom he is considering whether it may be a wiring loom problem that is giving the errors rather than an actual injector going again ..

We shall see .

Susie is determined to buy a (relatively) new car from a garage.  Not totally in favour but I understand her thoughts - she wants a car that is going to start if she needs it ..

25th July 2025 - Work with Chris and Jan

Thought for the day :"There's a new razor designed for dyslexics. It's the best thing since sliced beard."

Not a Wednesday as I had meetings on Wednesday with Lliedi Mark  so my "Work" day became a Friday and introduced Jan to a day with Chris ...

So we started with the Wood Shed - completing the roofing ...

Job Done 

So we started on the woodpile  - until the chain saw was clearly needing a sharpening

But we managed a Me cutting logs , Chris splitting logs and Jan stacking ... 

Then we managed to move the telegraph poles that have been annoying me since they were delivered 4 years ago - we may be able to get them up in September when we have a full contingent..

But at least I may be able to get the tractor around more of the lower paddock 

Next job was to reset a post for the logan berries to keep the fruit off the ground and clear the pathways .

Meanwhile Susie was clearing the Springs and getting rid of a lot of the weed ...  

Dinner with Green Beans form the Garden and courgettes of all sizes..

Meanwhile Jan discovers that feeding Chester and his girlies by hand is fun

24th July 2025 - Garden Work and new Duck enclosure

Thought for the day :"It's hard to tell if people want to join my sarcasm club or not...."

Wet

Tasks for today - 
A) get the pump working on the rain water tank - done 

B) clear the cotoneaster from the garden lawns 

C) clear the top path behind the polytunnels 

D) refill the duck and chicken water barrels

E) build a new enclosure for the ducks so the new ducks can get acclimatised 

F) Cut the lawns at the Romany Caravan

G) clear the Red Flower knotweed from the springs and the Eastern area

Managed !!
