11th February 2014 - No More "Good Ship Lollypop "?? - that sucks !!!

Yes, sadly the news is just in that Shirley Temple has died at the age of 85...

Little known random facts include the fact that she  sat on the boards of corporations and organisations including The Walt Disney Company, Del Monte Foods, and the National Wildlife Federation. In 1967, she ran unsuccessfully for United States Congress, and was appointed United States Ambassador to Ghana in 1974 and to Czechoslovakia in 1989. In 1988, she published her autobiography, Child Star. Temple is the recipient of awards and honours including Kennedy Center Honors and a Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.

She started her career at the age of three and has had a long and successful life - but am I alone in remembering her mainly as an annoying brat you would really like to slap !! I never met her - so this  is purely an emotional reaction - I am sure that she was a fine person...

In the meantime it has been a busy day in the land of the not so little boxes - probably because they are not green ones...  A day of loading from the garage to the store and then loading from the flat to the trailer... and the return of the SHORTS !!!   Yes - finally hit the old work ethic that requires the wearing of shorts and a singlet - in the freezing cold - but it is amazing how much heat a fat old man can generate when clearing rooms.....

Okay, finally the hail and snow caused me to decide that discretion was the better part of valour - and the full trailer was put into back yard rather than trying to unload in the bad weather....

(Small selling point for the house - Two trailers, the camper and a Citroen all in the hard standing behind the house under lock and key - plenty of room don't you know...  )   NB Estate Agents...

Evening was down at the bucket and spade - which brings me sort of back to the Shirley Temple images, though in fairness there were no tribute acts to her musical excesses - as far as I was able to tell.  However an excellent crowd of singers were present and despite the punters watching the football we managed to entertain ourselves and occasionally the rest..

Took the opportunity to play Gambeson - as no-one had seen it on the Youtube, and Monkey Meic (the one who normally sings the Procul Harum Cover was there) and while I was there decided to throw Tapestry to the wolves to a good reception - though no-one had any idea what it was about - I think that is the trick with that song..

Then, as the crowd seemed to be watching telly - it seemed a good time to try out the Mythodea Song "Black Pearl" - since the theme was the fact that the bards are singing to those who do not listen - so got them all calling "I'll have a beer!!"  though I cannot swear they heard the rest of the song!!!

All in all - a good day - though an aching back tells me that at least some of the boxes and furniture got moved!!!    Tomorrow is a trip to Heathrow to collect Chrissie my sister from Phoenix ....
Hoping that the snow covering the country will have dissipated - at least a little ...

1937 - Shirley Temple played Heidi - I would like the snow to keep to the mountains...

Thanks to my mum for making a cake tin full of sausage rolls - will keep me going if I have to leave the tent "I may be gone for some time!!!!"
